Split over two weekends, each day 10am-3pm (x 5 days of live sessions)

There will also be a monthly Zoom session for the first 3 months after your training. These will be held on Saturday evenings. Bringing your total live training hours to 28 hours.

After many years of supporting postpartum families and mentoring doulas in Ireland, Jen and Mary are excited to offer DoulaCare postpartum doula training - specifically geared to working with families in Ireland. We are the leading experts in Postpartum Doula care in Ireland and we want to offer our expertise to give you the information and skills you will need to provide postpartum doula services to families that need your support. This is one of the first ever doula trainings that has been developed in Ireland and our training offers you the opportunity to receive certification from an Irish organisation that is familiar with what families in Ireland look for with doula support.
We are committed to offering you the most up to date and evidence based research so you can build your confidence and professionally develop your skills and knowledge as a postpartum doula.
During your postpartum doula training you will learn how to be a professional doula. Our Postpartum training will cover evidence-based information about the benefits of doula support, how to hold space for new parents when they bring home a new baby or babies, the impact of doula support to a family, practical hands-on techniques, as well as the steps to begin a career as a postpartum doula.

Non-Judgmental Support (including the unconscious bias)
Effective Communication & Language skills
Supporting parents through loss and/or trauma

Postpartum Relationships - family dynamics and how the doula fits in

***You do not need to join DoulaCare Ireland Doula Agency in order to take this training (you can work as an independent doula with our agreed level of mentorship and support). Taking our training does not guarantee you a position in our agency. We have a strict application process and unfortunately we can only choose those who are the right fit for our team***
This workshop must be attended in its entirety. Cost for this training is €500 plus an additional first year membership fee of the DoulaCare Institute of €50 (inclusive of €10 administration fee to create your profile). Annual membership of the DoulaCare Institute for each subsequent year is €40 (due every January). If you wish to be Garda Vetted this can be processed through the DoulaCare Institute for a fee of €50 - this is only available to those who are certified with the DoulaCare Institute or active members of DoulaCare Ireland Agency. (Please note if you are working with small babies or children in Ireland it is a legal requirement that you are Garda Vetted).

Email events@doulacare.ie to request our certification booklet, full of information about the process and why choosing DoulaCare as your certifying organisation is the right step for your business.
We also offer the option to certify with our Irish organisation. The fee for certification is €100. We have designed our Postpartum Doula Certification curriculum to help new postpartum doulas feel prepared and confident to work with families during their transition to parenting. Our in depth training program includes the in-person training or live interactive zoom sessions (during COVID19), sharing of experiences and evaluation, home study, and additional coursework.
You will also have access to a private online support network and a monthly group video call for the first 3 months after your training to ensure you start your new career with confidence (these are group calls to ask questions, debrief, share skills and navigate your way to success). Once you pay the €100 certification fee you have 4 years to complete the process.
Cross Certification
If you have already taken a Postpartum Doula training and would like to certify with DoulaCare Ireland you have the following options
Attend our in person training for a discounted rate of €300
Cross Certify for €100. You do not have to attend our in person training but must provide paper work from your previous training. You will have access to our online support network and will also be eligible to join 3 group video calls (these are group calls to ask questions, debrief, share skills and navigate your way to success)
Doulas who are registered and working with DoulaCare Ireland Agency receive a 20% discount on all event fees.
