Melissa Fitzgerald
Post Partum Doula.
I am a ProDoula trained Postpartum Doula, Infant Feeding Specialist and a Social Care Worker. I also trained in Placenta Remedies in 2018 and I have enjoyed every minute since then. Becoming a Doula has been one of the best decisions I have ever made as it allows me to support women in my local community during one of the most beautiful moments in their lives!
I am originally from Kerry but moved to Limerick in recent years. I live in Limerick with my partner and pets Reese and Paddy. I currently work in the Social Care industry, where I work with teenage parents in the Limerick area by supporting them whilst pregnant and when their children are born, up until 2 years of age. This includes support around breastfeeding, parenting, routines, and other areas following child birth. It was through this work that I was introduced to the role of a Doula, and the benefits that there are for women. Through this work, I completed courses in Mellow Bumps, an antenatal programme to encourage bonding with the baby and the Incredible Years Parenting programme for children aged 0-8 years of age. I have also completed training in Integrated Energy Therapy and Ayurvedic Indian Head and Shoulder Massage.
I love to read and to go for walks with my dog. My spare time at the weekends is spent with family and friends. That's just a little bit of information on me and I hope you enjoyed learning more about me and my life.
